Please note!
This article covers only special cases for Business registration, for example, if you are registering a society and not a limited company. If you would like to find out how to add limited companies on the platform, please read this guide.
Current logic on the platform
As you may know, ENGAGE has an integration which comes in handy during the business registration - it pulls the following details from Companies House which ensures that they are real and correct:
- Official name
- Address
- Status of the company
- Officers & people with significant control
To check your own business
Step 1. Login to ENGAGE
Step 2. Navigate to Preferences -> My business
If you have recently changed any details, please click on 'Edit' from the 3-line menu in the top right, and re-save the details - this will trigger connection to Companies House and update them for you.
To check supplier or a client
Step 1. Login to ENGAGE
Step 2. Navigate to Network -> Businesses
Step 3. Choose a business and click on it
Step 4. Here you can see the details and Officers & people tab
Special case - no address
Our current integration needs to find a registered address to successfully register a business. This means that registration for any business that will not have it on Companies House, will fail.
One of the main uses for business registration is to generate invoices with correct details (client name, company number, VAT details and an address) and here is how you can ensure it will be done for your client's business without officially registered addresses:
Step 1. Login to ENGAGE
Step 2. Navigate to Network -> Businesses
Step 3. Click on 'New Business'
Step 4. In the second field 'Companies House Registration' choose 'Unregistered':
In the address field, please add any other address that the Client has given you. This is the address that will be visible on invoices by default.
Step 5. Proceed with filling out a form as usual
Step 6. Once registered, please navigate to Client Configuration
Step 7. ENGAGE will automatically create configuration for the newly created business
Please see this guide if you would like to find out more about creating and amending Client Configurations.
Step 8. Click on the configuration and navigate to Finance tab
Step 9. In the section titled 'Invoice details' click 'Edit'
Step 10. Choose 'Use custom settings' and enter all details as needed. Please note that address will be taken from the initial details you've entered during the business registration - if you need to show a different address on invoices, please amend it here.
Step 11. Don't forget to save the new settings.
All done, now on your client-related invoices you will have the correct company number and address.
